STRAND THEATRE LIGHT, WITH MILITARY TRIPOD.. An outstanding piece of military and theatre history. The tripod is originally a military tripod to hold a gas light, with its original brass fittings and fixtures still there. Made by Hilger and Watts in the 60s. The tripod has some chips and some Bowing legs, and does have some woodworm holes which have been treated. All of which add to the character off the piece and show its working life and age. 2 large and 2 small. The 2 small ones measure 30cm in diameter, 35cm depth and 39cm high. The 2 large ones measure 41cm in diameter, 38cm depth and 47cm high. Condition is used but the glass is still intact. Would be great for an upcycling project. They were originally used in Cardington Studios (where Batman and many others are filmed).
