LUCAS SLR 576 (aka "Flamethrower"). Base mounted model with stem. The stem is stamped "156" which I believe indicates that this particular unit was manufactured January 1956. This is from my grandfather's garage so I know it has been in storage for at least the past 50 years. This is a vintage original with some signs of patination, pitting & hairline scratches to the chromed finish, all commensurate with age. The chrome finish to most of the rivets has worn off somewhat. There is a very minor dent on the rear, it is incredibly difficult to photograph so I have circled it in red on the last photograph. Internally there appears to be some patination on the reflector near the base, and also some marks that I think this would clean off easily with a gentle polish. The lens looks in fine shape to me given its age. PLEASE NOTE I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN OR RESTORE THE LAMP IN ANY WAY. I'm not an expert and would not want to damage it. The filament of the fitted bulb looks intact to me. However please note that it is untested (there are no wires present). I hope this finds its deserved place on a classic car after years of sitting on a shelf. Would suit someone who values a characterful authentic original over one of the many sanitised reproductions that are available.
